High-end watchmaker Audemars Piguet has unveiled a special limited edition in collaboration with Italian jewelery designer Carolina Bucci. Based on the Royal Oak Selfwinding for women launched in 2020 with a size of 34mm, the combination of black ceramic and a rainbow colored dial appeals with a different charm.
This isn’t the first time replica Audemars Piguet and Carolina Butch have met. In 2016, to mark the 40th anniversary of the Women’s Royal Oak, Audemars Piguet’s chief designers Jacqueline Dimier and Carolina Butch teamed up for a new project, who were responsible for refining Gerald Genta’s iconic design for women in 1976. In close consultation with Jacqueline Damier, Carolina Butch, also known as Frosted Gold, gives a frosty effect with a gentle pattern on gold through hammering, one of the traditional traditional craft techniques representing Florence, her hometown. (Frosted Gold) applied to the Royal Oak model was introduced and gathered a lot of attention. Since then, Carolina Butch has participated in several limited editions, and based on this relationship, it was possible to join the special limited edition for women to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak this year.
The Royal Oak self-winding Carolina Butch Limited Edition is presented in all black ceramic, from the case to the bracelet. The advantages of scratch-resistant, lightweight, and skin-friendly ceramics are well known without needing to be emphasized. However, 18K pink gold is used for the 8 screws that secure the octagonal bezel, and titanium is used for the sapphire crystal caseback and the folding clasp of the bracelet. The diameter of the case is 34mm and the thickness is 8.8mm, and the slim profile in particular contributes to the fit that women value.
The dial catches the eye above all in this limited edition. The dial looks black when viewed in the dark, but shimmers, revealing a seductive rainbow of colors depending on the amount of illumination when viewed from the angle. Variation on the collection’s iconic Tapisserie design, Carolina Butch goes to great lengths to capture the multi-color spectrum. In the process of placing a thin sapphire plate on top of a brass (brass) plate, metallization, a kind of annealing technique using a laser, is applied to a square frame reminiscent of a traditional tapestry design, and the inside of the sapphire plate is again The mirror-polished finish allows the iridescent colors to appear more vividly when the dial is illuminated. Unfortunately, the brand is omitting a more detailed description of the dial production. As a result, it feels special in itself, as it is a unique dial not found in the existing Royal Oak collection.
The movement is equipped with the same automatic caliber 5800 as the Royal Oak self-winding 34 mm regular model (frequency 4 Hz, power reserve 50 hours). It’s not an in-house-made caliber, it’s a modification of the famous Parmigiani’s Manufacture, Vaucher’s three-hands date automatic eboche (VMF 3002 / H,M,SC,D). Although there are in-house automatic work hoses such as the 3120 and 4302, there are several reasons to choose the Bossé Eboche, but first, there is a problem with the size of the movement. However, improvising a new women’s automatic caliber is not the way Audemars Piguet, a serious haute aurologgeri maison, pursues, so it would have been an economical and safe choice to have a sufficiently verified source. A certain level of compromise is required to meet the huge demand of Royal Oak. In any case, the movement can also be admired through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback. The case waterproof specification is 50m.replica watches
