Although Geneva Watch Days 2021 came to an end on September 3rd (local basis in Switzerland), the introduction of new products from 25 major participating brands continues. Louis Erard, an independent watchmaker from Le Noirmont, Switzerland, participated in the GWD for the first time this year. Recently, the brand is energized by a special edition of a design collaboration with Alain Silberstein – aka Triptych – which has been promoted.
The limited edition new product, presented in a total of three variations, is based on Louis Ehar’s representative bestseller, Excellence Régulateur, which displays the hour, minute and second separately, Aventurine, Lapis-Lazuli, and Malachite. (Malachite) Three kinds of natural stone dials are openworked and used together on the dial, showing a different variation. Natural stone dials are predominantly found in the jewelery fake watches designs of some high-end manufacturers such as Piaget, Chopard, Rolex and Omega, but are relatively rare in the men’s watch category. Especially in the case of low-end brands, they are rarely used because it is difficult to meet the manufacturing cost. Louis Ehar’s strategic approach to digging into the niche market stands out.
Common to all three versions, they are presented in a polished stainless steel case. The diameter of the case is 42mm and the thickness is 12.25mm, which is thicker than the regular model, but the overall thickness of the case has been increased by adding a natural stone dial along with a sapphire crystal treated with an anti-reflection coating on the front dome. For reference, the case waterproof specification is 50m. A blue aventurine dial that resembles a starry night sky, dark blue lapis lazuli reminiscent of a mysterious ocean, and a malachite dial in a bright green color with a horizontal stripe pattern, except for the central figure 8 that indicates the hours and seconds. and openwork processed and attached. On the other hand, the silver plate-treated middle part is snail-finished in the form of concentric circles, and luster silver-colored indexes and hands are added to consider readability.
The movement, like the previous regulator models, is equipped with a partial modification of Celita’s automatic caliber SW266 (frequency of 4 Hz, power reserve of about 38 hours), and you can enjoy the movement through the see-through caseback. And for the strap, each model is equipped with a colored calfskin strap with a nubuck-treated suede texture with a surface named Deep Blue, Oceania Blue, and Basilico Green with a steel pin buckle. Each strap adopts a quick change method, making it easy to attach and detach.
The three types of Excellence Regulator natural stone dials are limited edition, limited edition of 99 pieces each, aventurine version (Ref. 85237AA32), lapis lazuli version (Ref. 85237AA35), and malachite version (Ref. 85237AA39). 2,900 Swiss Francs (CHF) each. Hanwha-ro is priced in the mid-to-late 3 million won range, which is quite accessible for a mechanical model with a natural stone dial in a rare regulator design.
